The authors of The Red Book of the Peoples of the Russian Empire, who come from a country (Estonia) which has shared the fate of nations in the Russian and Soviet empires, endeavour to publicize the plight of the small nations whose very existence is threatened as a result of recent history. This book is the result of a joint effort between historians and linguists, there is an article on each nation.
The Finno-Ugric media center FINUGOR.RU is one of the leading web resources on Finno-Ugric issues. The Media Center was organized as per the resolution of the 3rd Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples (Helsinki, 2000). The website FINUGOR.RU started working on April 25, 2001.
The Media Center contributes to maintaining the languages, customs, and traditional culture of Finno-Ugric people by using cutting-edge media tools. FINUGOR.RU takes an active part in building the common cyberspace of Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic peoples.
Since 2008 the Media Center has been providing bilingual materials to facilitate learning Finno-Ugric languages. The materials posted on FINUGOR.RU are provided in Russian, Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian, Komi, Udmurt, Mari, Erzya, Moksha, Veps, Karelian and Saami languages. The English version of the website has been available since 2009.
In 2009, the Media Center became the prize-winner of the second All-Russian contest “SMIrotvorets” in the nomination “Ethnic Mass Media: Internet”

Freely accessible online version of the encyclopedia in four volumes containing 6419 articles and 1781 illustrations. Users of the encyclopedia find information on the archeology and history of the region from ancient times, the indigenous peoples - Ob-Ugric peoples as well as other indigenous groups living in this land, their traditional economy, beliefs, culture, customs and rituals.
A large number of articles refer to the natural resources of the territory, such as land, water, vegetation, animals and their history. The authors of this encyclopedia have paid particular attention to the mining and processing of oil and gas, and the influence of human activities on the environment of this region.
The encyclopedia includes articles on various aspects of socio-political and economic life and provides information on general scientific terms and concepts describing the phenomena and processes which are particularly typical for the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra.
The publication contains material on the administrative-territorial division of the region, its geographical features, towns and other settlements.
Last but not least, there are a large number of biographical articles on historical figures of the past and the present.
